“A Sweet Day” Selected for the Toronto International Film Festival 2026

The short fiction film A Sweet Day (Yek Rooz-e Shirin), directed by Omid Abdollahi, has been officially selected for the Short Cuts programme of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2026, where it will have its North American Premiere.
The 51st Toronto International Film Festival will take place from September 10 to 20, 2026, bringing together filmmakers and audiences from around the world. A Sweet Day will be presented in Short Cuts 4, the programme featuring the film’s North American premiere.
Produced in Iran in 2026, A Sweet Day is an 18-minute drama in Persian, starring Behdokht Valian. The film follows a young woman who makes thoughtful preparations for a long-awaited conjugal visit with her imprisoned husband, unfolding within the cold and harsh interiors of a prison.
Following its World Premiere at the 79th Locarno Film Festival, the film’s selection at TIFF marks its second major international festival appearance and its first presentation in North America.
